Simple Variegated Socks

I found some pretty variegated yarn that I wanted to use to make socks.  After browsing for patterns, I couldn't find any that I felt would show off the colors, and also not be lost in them.  So I decided on just a simple stockinette sock.

I loved the pop of green mixed with the purple and blue.  The yarn is Three Irish Girls Adorn Luxe in the Bryn colorway.   It is 85/15 merino and nylon.  I realized I had previously bought the same yarn but in the Fire dance colorway from the same LYS.   I currently have it queued for Sketch it Cowl.   I'm just glad I didn't manage to get the same colorway.

Three Irish Girls Adorn Luxe, Bryn, hand knit, socks, Fish Lips Kiss heel

I cast on 64 stitches to start the cuff.  I did a simple 2x2 ribbing for about 1.5 inches.  I switched to stockinette stitch.  I continued with that until I got the cuff as long as I wanted, knowing about two inches would be added for the heel.

I used my newest go to heel, which is Fish Lips Kiss Heel.  For those of you that haven't tried it due to the length of the pattern, I feel your pain.  I put off trying it for so long.  I eventually just sat down, and read the pattern one step at a time.  I realized it wasn't as complicated as I was imagining it to be.  After using this heel a hand full of times, I no longer need to reference the pattern, and don't use the cardboard foot outline.

I have never found a toe that I have loved.  I had seen on a message board a while back that you could use the Fish Lip Kiss Heel as the toe also.  I decided to give this a try.  After the heel, I continued in stockinette until I was two inches from the end.  I knit the toe exactly the same as I did the heel.  The only difference is once the toe is complete, use the kitchener stitch to close it up.

I knit these on my 9" ChiaoGoo circulars with the US 1 tips.  One reason I like the FLK heel (and now the toe) is that when knitting cuff down, the entire sock can be made without ever changing needles.
