Today's topic is my current works in progress. I usually have three or four projects at various levels of completeness. For the first time, in a long while, I have slowed some on my knitting. I'm getting back into my groove, but after Christmas I needed a bit of a break.
First up is my sweater. The pattern is Buckwheat by Veera Välimäki.
My grandmother gifted me the yarn for Christmas. It is always extra special when a someone, who doesn't know yarn, makes a trip to a LYS to pick out some yarn. She couldn't have done any better than what she picked out. The yarn is Malabrigo Sock in the Cian colorway. I can't wait until I can wear this. It is so soft. I have made a few sweaters, but this is the first time I have done one bottom up. I am a little concerned I am going to make it too short. I always have to add length to the body and arms. It's easy to tell when starting at the top how much more I need to add, but I guess I'll wing it like I tend to do.
Next up is a simple sock.
I am not really following a pattern. I am just barely past the cuff on the first sock. I cast on 64 stitches, and will do the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. I bought the pattern for the heel, and was so intimidated by the length of the pattern, I put off trying it out. Once I gave it a try, I don't know if I will use another heel. It is an easy pattern to remember once you get the hang of it, and it fits so well. So if you are like I was, and are overwhelmed by it, give it a shot.
The yarn is Three Irish Girls Adorn Luxe in the Bryn colorway. The skein was so pretty I couldn't pass it up. The yarn is so variegated I could not find a pattern that would suit the yarn. So simple seemed the best way to go.
Last up is a lace shawl. The pattern is The Swan Princess by Alla Borisova. The yarn is another Malabrigo. If you can see a pattern in the blog so far, I do love their yarn. This one is Silkpaca in the Pagoda colorway.
I have completed Chart #1 so far. There are five charts in total. Knitting
lace and socks are my two favorite projects. I often get bored with
stockinette if it is a majority of the pattern. The sweater above is a
prefect example. It will probably be slow going in finishing. I love
the constant changes in stitches with lace. Every row is different. I
usually don't look ahead in patterns, so I never really know what I'm
going to be doing next until it's time to knit it. I find this more enjoyable than when I used to read ahead and make sure I knew what the whole pattern had in store.
I have noticed after posting my current WIPs that all three are on Chiaogoo needles. They have become my go to needles. I absolutely love the cable.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you stop by again.
